REGENT THEATRE
“DULCY.” The final showing of the outstanding comedy, “Dulcy,” will take place tonight at the Regent Theatre. “ROAD TO ZANZIBAR.” Riotously funny throughout and sparing no time for a serious moment, Paramount’s latest laughter parade, “Road to Zanzibar,” will be shown at the Regent Theatre tomorrow night. The inimitable Bob Hope and Bing Crosby, master of his own style of singing, are responsible for the humour of the film, which deals with their adventures as a couple of carnival performers cast adrift in brightest Africa with only their own resources to save them from certain death in the jungle. Assisting them is Dorothy Lamour, who, with Crosby, contributes a good deal of the singing. The efforts of these three in “Road to Zanzibar will make any future film concerning the perils of Africa appear ludicrous. Chuck Reardon and Fearless Frazier are trying to formulate ideas which will enable them to raise enough money speedily to see them both ]y out of the country—Crosby has the ideas and Hope, as Fearless, is the one who carries them out. When they finally have enough money Crosby uses it to buy a worthless diamond mine and there are further complications. At one stage they are persuaded to “buy” Dorothy Lamour her freedom from slavery, not knowing that she is in league with the slave-mastei. All the events occur with the most casual and refreshing spontaneity.
