HOME GUARD WEEKLY PARADE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The weekly parade of the Home Guard was held on Tuesday evening, Commander Hayes being in charge. The usual physical drill etc., was followed by serniphore signalling under Sergt.-Instructor Halpin. Platoon Commander Carter gave a lecture on future activities of the Home Guard in held craft. Platoon Commander Carter has just returned from a 10 days intensive course of training at Palmerston North. The company will in future parade at 7.30 p.m. Lady Galway Fund. Miss Card wishes to acknowledge the donation of £2 from Mrs Norman Matthews towards the local Lady Galway Fund. Anzac Hall. Mr F. O’Neale and his staff are working day and night shifts at the Anzac Hall preparing the building for occupation next week as a hospital. Golf Match.' The Carterton and Featherston golf teams met on the Gum Grove links yesterday. The results were as follow, Carterton players being mentioned first in each instance: —Mrs Callender lost to Miss Nix; Mrs Murray lost to Mrs Gold; Mrs Colson lost to Mrs Pope; Mrs Johansen beat Mrs Connell; Miss Booth beat Miss Williams; Mrs Robinson lost to Mrs Feast; Mrs Knowles lost to Miss Ruane; Mrs Riggs lost to Mrs Elbe. Featherston won by 6 games to 2. The bogey competition resulted: — Featherston: Mrs Feast, 1; Mrs Donald, 2. Carterton: Mrs Johansen, 1; Miss Booth, 2. Mrs Gold is the winner of the final in the bogey competition.
