SALE "AT ADDINGTON INCREASE IN ENTRIES. PRICES EASIER IN MOST CLASSES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, October 8. At today’s Addington market the advance of spring and the resultant increase in entries caused an easing in prices in most classes of stock. The store sheep entry was slightly smaller and prices showed a slightly slackening tendency on those of last week. Best open woolled two-tooths sold up to 28s lOd and finer wools to 26s 9d. Ewes and lambs sold at to 14s lOd all counted. Adult wethers were easier by 2s. In the fat cattle section 527 head were penned including much of outstanding quality. There were too many heavy cattle for the demand, and values for this class were down by £2 a head, and medium classes of heifers and light cows by 15s to 255. Good beef made from 42s to 44s 6d a 1001 b., a few special young pens to 48s 6d, inferior down to 31s, and rough down to 275. Heavy prime steers sold to £25 12s 6d, good prime £l7 to £l9, medium weight prime £l4 to £l6 15s, best heifers to £l5 17s 6d, best cows to £l5 7s 6d. The fat sheep entry was again large being about 5000 head. Warm weather affected the buying and the strength of recent markets was lacking. About half of the offering was made up of shorn sheep. Quality was excellent. The drop in value was from Is to a little more a head. Good wethers made from 32s to 365, tops to 43s 7d, medium 26s to 31s, good ewes 25s to 28s, tops to 34s lOd, prime medium weight 22s 6d to 24s 6d, best shorn wethers to 31s lOd. In, the fat pig section there was a small porker entry and light sorts advanced by up to 4s a head. Values were from £2 9s 6d to £3 8s 6d, average per lb. 73d to 93d. .Baconers were about 2s a head better than a week ago, values being from £3 10s 6d to £5 6s 6d, average per lb. 63 d to Bd. PAHIATUA SALE STORE SHEEP IN DEMAND. FAT COW VALUES APPRECIATE. The Associated Auctioneers report as follows on the Pahiatua sale: —Small yardings of all classes were yarded, and offered to a medium attendance of the public. Store sheep were again in demand, and sold well at late rates, while dairy cattle and pigs were on a par with our recent sales. Good fat cows ex dairy met with a keen demand, and values appreciated on previous sales. Quotations: Small ewe hoggets, 24s 3d; med. w. hoggets, 22s sd; shorn fat ewes, 10s 9d; fat hoggets, 265; ewes and lambs (all counted), Ils. Dairy cattle: Springing cows, £l2 10s, £l2, £ll 5s to £8 15s; springing heifers, £ll 2s 6d; fat cows, ex dairy, £7 2s 6d, £7. Pigs: Slips, 23s to 18s; weaners, 19s, 17s 6d to 13s. Sundries: Macrocarpa posts, £l3 10s; seed potatoes, 8s 6d bag.
