RETURNED SOLDIERS
POLITICAL BASIS THE AUCKLAND PROPOSAL. NOT FAVOURED BY DOMINION EXECUTIVE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Dominion executive committee of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association has given consideration to the proposal which is to come before the meeting of the Auckland R.S.A. on October 21 to alter the constitution from a non-party to a political basis. At a Dominion council meeting, held on May 30 last, the following resolution was adopted unanimously by 104 delegates (including Auckland R.S.A. delegates) representing 74 branches: “That this Dominion council fully endorses the principle of the N.Z.R.S.A. (that it is a non-party, political and non-sectarian body).” The Dominion executive committee therefore decided: — 1. To take steps to dissuade the Auckland R.S.A. from party political action. 2. That a circular be sent to every member of the Auckland R.S.A. showing reasons why the Auckland R.S.A. should not adopt party political action. 3. That the Auckland R.S.A. be requested to invite two representatives from the N.Z.R.S.A. to attend and address the meeting on October 21.
