MEAT PURCHASE

ARRANGEMENTS FOR CURRENT SEASON. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. ‘‘The whole of the arrangements for the purchase of meat for the 1941-42 season are being discussed by the Government with the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board and the freezing industry and an announcement will be made as early as possible,” said the Minister of Marketing, Mr Barclay, answering an urgent question by Mr Polson (Opposition, Stratford) in the House of Representatives yesterday. Mr Barclay added that ewe mutton purchased during the season just ended had either already been shipped, or was now in the process of being shipped to the United Kingdom, with the exception of about 5000 tons which was killed since May last and which was now being canned. Mr Polson had asked whether for the coming season there was to be any departure from the Government’s last season’s arrangements.
