GOLD MINING RETURNS
Argo dredge, week ended October s:\ 390 z. from 10,000 cubic yards in 121 hours. Alexander Mines, Ltd., reports the following return for September: —Battery department: 128 tons of ore crushed for 720 z melted gold, valued at £560. Cyanide department was not cleaned up. Concentrates: In addition to the above, 6.5 tons was saved containing 34.1720 z. of gold, valued at £270. In estimating the above, returns, gold has been taken at £8 per fine oz. Una Hill Consolidated Gold Mines, Ltd., reports that in 20 days to September 26, 160 tons of ore’ was crushed for a return of 65|oz. of bullion from first stage amalgamation only. Eight tons of concentrates was saved, but has not yet been assayed. Treatment of concentrates and cyanidation has been started. The most important development at the mine is the location of rich stone in the main No. 2 reef, with which the good patches in the upper levels were always previously associated. Work is proceeding on this new find.
