KEYNOTE TO SMARTNESS. “Black and white is the keynote to smartness,” says Ann Rutherford, the noted film star. She proves this by wearing a i two-piece black taffeta ensemble. The skirt is gored with the form-fitting jacket ending at the hipline. Her hat is white suede with a wide brim falling over one eye. A nautical touch is added in the actress’s envelope bag. On a black background tiny white stars and stripes form a trim pattern. Patent leather pumps with white bows complete the putfit.
