FEATHERSTON
RETURNED SOLDIERS ANNUAL RE-UNION. (“Times-Age” Special.) The members of the Featherston branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association held their annual reunion on Saturday night. There was an attendance of about 60 and Mr H. Lawson presided. A welcome home was given to Sergt. C. Wenden and Private D. Carlyon. Musical items were rendered by Messrs F. Clark and H. Hunter (duet), the Rev. J. R. Higgs (humorous solo), and Mi- B. Williams (song). The accompaniments were played by Miss J. Hunter and Mr J. Buck. The following toasts were honoured: “The King;” “Absent Comrades” (proposed by Mr H. Lawson); “Combined Services” (the Rev. R. S. Keenan); and “The British Empire” (Mr N. C. C. Shepherd). Personal Items. Word has been received locally that the Rev. J. T. Holland has now left the hospital ship to which he was attached, and is serving with the land forces in the Middle East. Mrs H. G. Lovegrove is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs Dodds, Paparoa. Miss Hatton is visiting Auckland for .Miss Joan Scott’s wedding. Miss Molly Clapshaw and Miss Margaret Taylor were weekend visitors to Featherston. Golf. The following are the best cards for the final round for the shield: —L. G. Benton, 88, 16, 72; J. McCullum, 83, 9, 74; H. Bloxam, 90, 12, 78. .The shield has been won by H. Bloxam with 51 points. In the handicap Jeffrey beat Bloxam, R. Donald won from J. W. Card by default, and McCullum beat McNamara. The fourball was won by R. Donald and H. Lovegrove who have played through the season without losing a game.
