NEW ZEALAND AIRMEN
HIGH STANDARD SET IN CANADA.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) •AUCKLAND, This Day.
“The only trouble we find with your New Zealand airmen is that they are taking our prettiest girls,” said the Canadian Trade Commissioner to Australia, Lieutenant-Colonel Cosgrave, who is visiting New Zealand after a vacation in Canada. “The behaviour of the New Zealanders is of a particularly high standard,” he added. “They are in the fullest sense ambassadors of the Dominion. The people of Canada have taken to them, and I am sure some of them will be returning to Canada after the war. Some of the cities complain that they do not get enough opportunities of entertaining New Zealanders.” Lieutenant-Colonel Cosgrave said the outstanding feature of the New Zealand airmen was their high standard of training before reaching Canada. They and the Australians were always in the top bracket.
