MEETING OF WAIRARAPA COMMITTEE TERRITORIAL CADRE APPEALS DEALT WITH. SITTING IN MASTERTON. A sitting of the Wairarapa Man Power Committee was held, in Masterton this morning when appeals regarding' service with the Territorial Cadie for the duration of the war were heard, in additon to other appeals relating to Territorial service. Mr T. Jordan presided. There were also present Messrs L. I'. Daniell and F Cole and the secretary, Mr Whitlock. Lieutenant R. C. Wood represented the Army Department. Postponement of service until after the November examinations was granted in respect to the following part-time students of Wairarapa College, the reservists not to be called up prior to December 1. 1941: Ken Watters McFarlane, Harold Lawson Pither. Neville Owen Jones, Henry John Hayes. Leonard Edward Frances. Appeals on the ground of unciue hardship were dealt with as follows: Bruce Roger McPherson, clerk (coappellant Sellar and Sellar), appeal adjourned with the proviso that the reservist join the Emergency Fire Service prior to November 1. Harold Lawson Pither, bank officer (co-cppellant the Bank of New. South Wales), appeal dismissed, subject to the reservist not being called up before December 1, 1941. Alan Walter Leigh, plumber's apprentice (co-appellants Pickering Bros. Ltd.), appeal adjourned sine die, subject to the reservist joining the E.F.S. The following appeals were lodged on the ground of public interest: Reginald Stanley Lee, shearer and casing worker ico-appcllant Messis 1. Borthwick and Sens, Ltd.), appeal adjourned. sine die. subject to the reservist joining the Emergency Fire Service before November 1. 1941. An appeal for the postponement of service in respect to James Duguid shepherd (co-appellants, the Director of National Service and Wright, Stephenson, Ltd.) was granted, the reservist not to be called up prior to March 31, 1942.

John Charles Wright, apprentice engineer (co-appellant R. Lambert) appeal dismissed, subject to the reservist not being called up before December 1, 1941. , . George Joseph Fellingham, dairy factory hand (co-appellant the Mauriceville Dairy C 0.),, appeal dismissed. Jack Cunningham (co-appellant, F. Ashworth), adjourned sine die. with the proviso that the reservist join the Home Guard within seven days. Herbert G. Braggins, farm hand (coappellant G. W. Gaskin), appeal adjourned sine die. Rex Alfred Reader, shepherd (coappellant A. E. Reader), appeal adjourned sine die. Mr R. R. Burridge represented the co-appellant. Gordon Henry Wilkin, dairy farm hand (co-appellant Francis C. Wilkin) appealed adjourned sine die, subject to the reservist joining the Home Guard within 14 days.

Raymond William Roy Riddell (coappellant L. J. Riddell) appeal regarding service for the duration adjourned sine die, subject to the reservist entering into Territorial training after January 1, 1942. John Pierce Williams, shepherd (coappellants, Director of National Service, J. Linton) appeal dismissed subject to the reservist not being called up prior to March 31, 1942. Colin Edgar Ransom (co-'appellant. Director of National Service) appeal adjourned sine die, subject to the reservist joining the E.F.S. Erwin Dyer Ritchie, shepherd (the Director of National Service and William Rayner, co-appellants) appeal dismissed subject to the reservist not being called up before January 31, 1942. Philip Bradwell Brook, life assurance agent (co-appellant, T. and G. Assurance Co.), appeal adjourned sine die subject to the reservist joining the E.F.S. within fourteen days. Arthur Dudley Carson, appealed against the calling Up of Eugene Davies and John Aline Sherwood, shepherds. The appeal was dismissed subject to the reservists not being called up prior to April 1 and March 1 respectively. Henry Reid Falloon, shepherd (copellant, Mr A. H. Falloon), appeal adjourned to December 31.
