MEETING AT RANDWICK DERBY WON BY LAUREATE. BEAU VITE AGAIN WINS. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) SYDNEY,. October 5. Both this year’s A.J.C. Derby and Epsom Handicap at Randwick were fine races by reason of the uniformity in class, the number of starters, and the fhet that the popular choice won in both instances. The redoubtable Beau Vite lived up to his great reputation by winning the Colin Stephen Stakes with a minimum of effort. Results are as follow: — First Hurdle Handicap, 2m.: Royal Sceptre, 10.0 (Hynes), 1;. Lithgow, 9.0, 2; Punarua, 9.10, 3. Trial Stakes, Um.: Red Pete, 8.5 (E. Bartie), 1; Lambeth, 7.12, 2; Lo Dokes, 8.8, 3. A.J.C. Derby Stakes, for three-year-olds, Um.: Laureate, 8.10 (McCarten), 1; Galliard, 8.10 (F. Shean), 2; Chatham’s Choice, 8.10 (A. Knox). 3. Won by two lengths and a half, with a long head between Galliard and Chatham s Choice. Time, 2.32. Epsom Handicap, Im.: Rimveil, 9.2 (H. Badger). 1; High Caste, 9.13, 2; Amiable, 8.11, 3. High Caste looked all over a winner, but in a dazzling struggle to the post Rimveil bore down on him and gained 'the verdict by along head. Time, 1.36. . The Colin Stephen Stakes, weight-for-age, Um.: Beau Vite, 9.5 (D. Munro), 1; Dashing Cavalier, 9.5, 2; Lucrative, 9.0, 3.
