PRIVATE DROWNED
TRAGEDY OVERSEAS. THIRD BROTHER TO MEET SIMILAR FATE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WHANGAREI, October 4. The accidental drowning of Private James Wesley Lee, son of Mr W. J. Lee, Whangarei, was officially notified yesterday. The message was conveyed personally by the Minister of Defence, Mr Jones, in a telephone conversation with the Whangarei area' officer, who undertook to deliver the sad tidings to Private Lee’s mother. Private Lee is the third of three brothers, all volunteers with the Second N.Z.E.F.. to have lost his life in this way. Just a year ago the two younger brothers, Privates Richard and William Lee, were accidentally drowned in a boating misadventure on the Nile. No details of the latest tragedy are available, except that it occurred on September 30.
