Chimney Fire.
The Masterton Fire Brigade turned out in response to a call received at 5.40 o’clock yesterday afternoon, by exchange, to a chimney fire at a residence in Church Street. The fire was speedily put out. Seal at Riversdale. A small seal was captured at Riversdale yesterday by two Masterton Chinamen and a youth. It was found under a rock and was apparently in good fettle. The seal was brought to Masterton and has been sent to the Wellington Zoo. It is not often that seals are found on the East Coast. Cooper, Lett, S. Jenkins, Neilson, Jansen, McCalmont, D. McKenzie, Fanchild, Torr, Misses Clark, Eton, Messrs J. L. Murray, C. E. Shoosmith, pupils of St. Matthew’s School, Wainuoru Sewing Circle, Te Wharau “Busy Bees,” Rongokokako Women's Institute, Tiraumea Women's Division, Midland. Hotel staff (donation for a prisoner of war parcel).
