STOCK MARKET

SALE AT FEILDING ACTIVE CONDITIONS. KEEN BIDDING FOR MUTTON. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) . FEILDING, October 3. A small yarding of good quality stock found the market very active at the Feilding sale today, both cattle and sheep selling readily. Mutton was in short supply and bidding was keen for all prime finished lines, the majority again being out of wool. Wethers were very scarce and not many hoggets were available. Prices for these hardened a little. In the store sheep pens the bulk of the entry was confined to ewe hoggets, best sorts selling to 335, and good second quality to 29s sd. Best wether hoggets realised to 22s and average quality changed hands at 19s sd. Store cattle met with a good sale. Fat and forward three-four-year A.A. bullocks made to £9 Is, and wellgrown three-year lines to £8 Ils. Best two-year A.A. and Hereford steers sold freely at up to £7 15s, while yearling A.A. steers made to £4 12s. A.A. cows pasturing with bull were in demand at up to £6 13s. Beef also made a strong appeal to buyers, a nicely finished entry of ex beef advancing considerably in price. Top weights brought to £l4 17s 6d, and second grade to just on £l2. The top price for cows was £ll 2s 6d and for heifers £l2 7s 6d. CARTERTON SALE GOOD PRICES FOR HOGGETS. RISE IN HEIFER VALUES.
