REGENT THEATRE

“ANDY HARDY’S PRIVATE SECRETARY.” Taking its place among the best of the popular Hardy Family series, “Andy Hardy’s Private Secretary" will be showing again tonight at the Regent Theatre. High school graduation, a subject dear to the hearts of grownups and youngsters alike, is one highlight of these new adventures of the famous family, with the inimitable Andy so busy heading senior committees that he almost misses the big night. All of the thrills, all of the excitement, all of the heartbreaks of such a great human adventure are depicted in this film with amazing accuracy, The boy who can’t afford white flannels and the girl whose budget balks at silk stockings are present on the scene. Final examinations, the senior play, the year book all serve to take former students back again to those thrilling days and provide undergraduates with some idea of the fun to come. Mickey. Rooney, as Andy, does one of his most sensitive characterisations of this young man. Lewis Stone as Judge Hardy tackles the problems of his son with characteristic understanding and sympathy. Fay Holden as Ma Hardy and Sara Haden as Aunt Milly are genuine and sincere. A newcomer to the screen is seventeen-year-old Kathryn Grayson. A special picture shows the advance of the British troops into Syria.
