SHOW AND SALE ERRATIC DEMAND FOR BULLS. PRICES AT FEILDING. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, October 3. There was an erratic demand for bulls at the nineteenth annual Manawatu Jersey show and sale held .at Feilding yesterday, when, following the show, approximately 150 head of bulls were offered to a fair bench of buyers. Top price was 150gns, which was paid by Mr L. Larsen, Masterton, for a splendid 15 months bull, Tuhirangi Silver Star, offered by Mr R. J. U. Wellington, also of Masterton. Under the hammer 80 bulls were sold, and the average price was about 231 gns, this being lower than the average price of the 1940 sale, when 64 head averaged 31gns. Six pedigree yearling heifers were sold, and the average for these was 19Jgns. The judges at the show were Messrs A. Donaldson, of Levin, and B. Bow, of Hawke’s Bay. First prize in the aged bulls class, i and also grand champion of the show, , went' to Mr C. W. Davison’s (Rongo- I tea) Convict of Beinefels. At the sub- > sequent sale, however, this animal I brought the surprisingly low price of 35gns. In the two-year-old class Mr I M. Short’s (Feilding) Shortland Romeo j gained the first award. The yearling class was particularly strong and was divided into three sec- ; tions for judging. In section two, first i award went to Messrs F-. V. Bryant and Sons’ (Mangatainoka) Jersey Glen Cashier, while the same breeders’ Jersey Glen Select secured second place. Third place went to the top price bull of the sale, Mr R. J. U. Wellington’s (Masterton) Tuhirangi Silver Star.
