The Limited express from Auckland this morning did not come past Paekakariki, the passengers being transferred to buses and arriving here at 11. a.m. Unless further slips occur, no further dislocation of services is expected. Continued rain has wrought havoc throughout Wellington and its suburbs to both public and private property. Public expenditure in making good the damage will run into thousands of pounds and to this has to be added thousands more suffered on private properties. The Hutt Valley and also the coastal hills area north to Paekakariki also carry considerable damage.
