KILLED ON CROSSING
ELDERLY ARAMOHO WOMAN WALKED IN FRONT OF MOVING TRUCKS. I * RESCUE ATTEMPT BY PORTER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) * WANGANUI, This Day. Mrs Charlotte Annie Jones, aged 75 years, of Aramoho, was killed instantly through being struck by a railway truck on the Aramoho level crossing. Mrs F. M. Burns, proprietress of a shop near the crossing, was standing on the path, and seeing trucks being backed towards the crossing and Mrs Jones walking on to the crossing, called and ran toward her. Mrs Jones, who was deaf and had her hat down, walked on to the line and was knocked down and run over by the first truck. A railway potter riding on thei first truck jumped in front of the moving truck in an endeavour to get Mrs Jones.clear, but failed.
