SUCCESSFUL DANCE

ST. JOHN AMBULANCE EFFORT. CHRISTMAS PARCEL FUND BENEFITS. The dance held by the St. John Ambulance Brigade in the Masonic Hall, Masterton, last night to raise funds to send Christmas parcels to members serving overseas was largely attended and proved a most successful function. The music was supplied by Jack Barnes’s Rhythm Boys and under the direction of the Cadet Division’s popular superintendent, Mr C. S. McQuade, the proceedings went with a swing. Extras were played by Messrs H. Hood and F. Poole. The winners of the Monte Carlo waltz competition were Miss V. Grimwood and Mr C. Reid and of the lucky spot one step Miss O’Neill and Leading Aircraftman P. Rollings. Mr McQuade thanked patrons for their attendance and also all who had made donations towards the dance, thus making the function such a huge success. He particularly thanked the ladies’ committee which had been responsible for supplying such a splendid supper. Mr McQuade announced that the brigade would be holding its next dance in the Masonic Hall on Saturday, October 11, and assured patrons of an excellent night’s dancing.
