CRICKET
OLD BOYS CLUB ANNUAL MEETING. NEW MEMBERS ELECTED. There was a large attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Old Boys’ Cricket Club. Mr E. Sortain Smith presided. At the commencement of the meeting members observed a period of silence as a mark of respect to two club members, Earl Keane and Patrick Dyer, who had been killed in action. The annual report and balance sheet were adopted. The balance sheet showed a good credit balance. The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Mr G. G. Hancox; president, Mr E. Sortain Smith; vice-presidents, Messrs F. Maunsell, R. Hatch, W. Whiteman, T. Handcock. A. Sutherland; secretary, Mr D. E. McMichael; club captain, Mr G. Barr; auditor. Mr A. P. Smith; delegates to the Wairarapa Cricket Association, Messrs G. Barr, J. Payne, D, E. McMichael; selectors, senior, Mr G. Barr, junior, Mr J. Payne. Subscriptions for the coming season were fixed at 25s for seniors and 15s for juniors. The matter of team nominations was left in the hands of the management committee, A vote of thanks was passed to the Principal and Board of Governors of Wairarapa College for their continued help to the club by allowing it the use of the college grounds for practices. The following new members were elected; P. Meddings, D. Stevens, K Rue, P. Alexander, Campbell Smith, R. Selby : L. Curtis. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the chair and members present adjourned to the Savage Club rooms where they were the guests of the Rod Star Club for supper.
