PUPILS’ CONCERT
ST. MATTHEW’S SCHOOL EXCELLENT PROGRAMME. PERFORMANCE IN OPERA HOUSE. An excellent programme was presented in the Masterton Opera House last night by the pupils of St. Matthew’s School. There was a large attendance of parents, friends and others. Much credit was due to those responsible for the training of the children and for the general presentation of the various items. The programme was as follows: School songs: “Land of Hope and Glory” (Elgar), “Lords of the Air" (North and Burnaby). Juniors’ play. “The Magic Soup." Indoor House Games Competition. Piano solo, E. Parr “The Fair”' (Gurlitt). Intermediate songs, “Land of My Fathers” (James), “The Ash Grove” (traditional), “Riding Down From Bangor.” Juniors, vaulting. Piano solo, P. Pavitt. Chanson Triste (Tschaikovski). Intermediate, vaulting. Juniors, recitation “My Mouse.” “Puppy and I.” Senior vaulting. Kindergarten songs, “Av Clair de la lune,” “Frere Jacques” (Old French Airs): three songs of London “Whitechapel,” “Peckham Rye,” “Fleet Street” (Eleanor Farjeon). Forms 111. and IV, drill. Juniors, song dances “Boomps-a-Daisy,” juniors, piano duet. H. and D. Wilson, “Round the Billy” (Markham Lee). Woodland dance. Senior songs, “Where e’er you Walk” (Handel), “The Temple Bells” (Wood-forde-Finden), “The Floral Dance” (music founded on an old Cornish air by Katie Moss). Ribbon dance. Recitation. 3.
