TRAINING FARM
NEW SCHEME ADVANCED FOR SOLDIERS RETURNING FROM OVERSEAS. REHABILITATION PROPOSALS. Consequent on the acceptance by the Government to the offer made recently by the trustees of the Wairarapa Training Farm to place the farm at the disposal of the Government to again carry out training of returned men in practical farm methods; members are now going into details to finance a scheme to -accommodate, and train xt intervals up to 10 returned men. fL It is proposed to make comfortable quarters available for the men, to -Reinstate a dairy herd and milking plant and to extend the operations o!f the farm to cover all phases of general farm practice. The period of training will embrace from 6 months to 2 years. The assistance of the Department of Agriculture will be sought to arrange farm schools, where the men will receive lectures and demonstrations in every branch of the industry. A sub-committee is to immediately go into the matter and bring forward proposals to be submitted to the Government.
