WAIRARAPA GUN CLUB
B GRADE CHAMPIONSHIP FIRED UNDER UNFAVOURABLE CONDITIONS. WON BY F. E. ALLEN. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was squally and cold weather for the Wairarapa Gun Club’s B grade championship at the weekend. There was a fair muster of shooters at the grounds in Norfolk Road, Waingawa, and the arrangements, for which the secretary, Mi’ C. M. Kiddie, was responsible, were complete in every detail. He was assisted by a capable executive committee. The following were the results: — B grade clay bird championship (25 birds, 14 yard rise): F. E. Allen and T. A. Brown each broke 21 birds, leaving all the others well behind. There were twelve competitors. In the 5-bird shoot-off F. E. Allen broke 4 and T. A. Brown broke 3 birds. Both these men shot remarkably well. 10-bird sweepstake: T. A.. Brown again shot well, being the only shooter to break the ten birds. J. Crawford was second with 8 breaks. Five-bird gimcrack: T. A. Brown and H. J. Bannister shot four birds each. Five-bird quail drive: W. D. Moroney and H. J. Bannister each broke 3 birds, W. D. Moroney winning the shoot-off. Double rise (5 pairs): F. Yule outclassed the other shooters in this event, breaking 9 out of the 10 birds. It was a really good performance, as this shooter is comparatively new to clay bird shooting. H. J. Bannister was second with 7 breaks, while R. Williams and L. Rayner broke 5 clays each.
