WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

v* MEETING AT HASTWELLS COMPETITION WINNERS. (•'Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Hastwcll Women's Institute Mrs K. Ngatuere presided over a large attendance of members. One new member was welcomed. The competitions for the morith resulted as follows: —Seniors, ginger nuts, Mrs Morris 1. Miss K. Larsen 2. Mrs Elliott 3; juniors. Miss P. Manihera 1, Miss E. Larsen 2, Miss O. Halberg 3. Sewing, best eyelet hole, Miss E l . Larsen 1, Miss I. Madsen 2. Miss B. Casley 3. Best decorated vase of flowers, Miss I. Madsen 1. Miss A. Dick 2 ; Miss B. Casley 3. A game which was conducted by the Misses Larsen was won by’ Miss O. Halberg, Mrs Dick being second. A parcel fund conducted by Mrs Eliott was won by Mrs Bradshaw. Mrs Thorby and Mrs Eliott were thanked for judging the competitions. Mrs Ngatuere read the motto for the month and Miss K. Larsen gave the roll call, “What annoys you most in the kitchen," which was enjoyed by all. Mrs Morris rendered two songs. It was reported that fifteen tins of ginger nuts had been sent to soldiers. Padded squares were sown up into a quilt. The hostesses. Misses A. Dick and 0. Halberg, served afternoon tea.
