NECESSARY TO DEFEAT GERMANY STATEMENT BY CANADIAN COMMANDER. BRITAIN'S ARMOURED FORCES SUPERIOR. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, September 27. The commander of the Canadian forces in Britain. Lieutenant-General MacNaughton, told visiting Canadian newspaper editors that there must be an invasion of the Continent to defeat Germany. He did not think a proud-well-organised nation could be brought to its knees with missiles alone. There' was. he said, no better spot than England for an offensive along the coast of Europe from Gibraltar to Spitzbergen. It was possible that the British offensive would not come till Germany attempted to invade England. Britain’s armoured divisions were a more powerful striking force than Germany’s panzers, ho added.
