A young Territorial soldier was killed and two other young men were injured when two motor-cycles were involved in a head-on collision in McKenzie Road, Mangere, at about seven o’clock on Saturday night. The vie-, tims were: — KILLED. Joseph Avery Ashwin, aged 18 years, Mangere. INJURED. George Daniel, fractured right thigh and head injuries; condition serious. Gilbert Noel Matthews, aged 19 years, head injuries; condition not serious. Ashwin had almost completed his Territorial training and had been on leave at home for the wekend.
