The death occurred at . Featherston yesterday of Mr Kenneth Nelson Saywell. of Western Lake at the age of 53 years.
Mr P. J. O'Dwyer has been elected a life member of the Blenheim Farmers’ Union, in recognition of 30 years' membership. Mr Allan Tregonning, F.T.C.L., I L.R.A.M., A.R.C.M., the gifted young Southland: pianist, has been appointed to the position of resident master in the famous Hurstpierpoint College in Sussex, England. Mr Myron Taylor, until recently President Roosevelt’s personal representative at the Vatican, has arrived in London from Lisbon. It is stated that he will discuss refugee problems with British experts. A Wellington athlete, Mr Bruce Bush, died suddenly in Wellington on Friday, at the early age of 20 years. Educated at Wellington College, Mi’ Bush was prominent at football, cricket, boxing, and tennis, and on leaving college gained a place in the "Wellington College Old Boys’ Rugby Club’s first fifteen, and also won his way into the Midland Cricket Club's senior eleven. A brother, Mr Thomas Bush, is now training in Canada for the Air Force, and another brother, Roy, is with the Royal Ail’ Force. Both were also prominent athletes when in Wellington. The father, the late Mr Charles Bush, was also a noted footballer and cricketer, and represented several provinces, including Canterbury and Wellington, at both games. An uncle, the late Mr S. Bush, formerly played football for the old Albion Club in Masterton and was a Wairarapa representative.
