The bridesmaid, Miss Mavis Bou- < stead, sister of the bride, wore a frock ; of metal run tinsel in Egyptian gold. . cut on similar lines to that of the ( bride’s, with a Medici collar and ■ matching pleated halo. She carried a , bouquet of pink hyacinths and free- , zias and wore a gold cross and chain, . the gift of the bridegroom. The duties of best man were carried < out by Mr R. E. Greenwood, of Auck- | land, brother of the bridegroom. . When Mr and Mrs C. A. Greenwood , left for a tour of the north the latter ’ was wearing a green tailored costume ' with hat and accessories to match. ; Their future home will be in Masterton. ASKEW—BELL. St. Matthew's Church, Masterton. was the scene on Saturday last of a , wedding of interest throughout the Wairarapa when Ivelenah, only daughter of Mr and Mrs C. J. Bell, “Mangahina,” was married to Douglas Henry Richard, only son of Mr and Mrs A. L. Askew. Lansdowne, Masterton. The ceremony, which was fully choral, was performed by the Ven. Archdeacon E. J. Rich. Mr William C. Mann led the choir and Mr Miller Hope presided at the organ. The church was artistically decorated for the occasion. The bride, who was escorted by her father, looked charming in a gown of heavy ivory magnolia satin, cut on slim fitting lines, to form a graceful train which was caught up with sprays of orange blossom to form three scallops. The flowing tulle veil was surmounted by a halo of pleated tulle and orange blossom. A magnificent bouquet of free?ias, hyacinths, jonquils and maidenhair fern completed a charming effect. The bridesmaids, Misses Edna Rayner, chief (.niece of the bride) and Miss June Askew, sister of the bridegroom, wore becoming dresses of pink stiffened net over taffeta. The skirts were fully gored and were trimmed with frills, rosettes and blue velvet flowers. They wore pink shoes to match their dresses and also wore crystal necklaces, the gift of the bridegroom. Their bouquets were of tulips, hyacinths, heather and carnations. Heather Brown (Masterton) made an attractive flower girl. She wore a frock of blue stiffened net over taffeta, a replica of the bridesmaids, and a gold bracelet, the gift of the bridegroom, tan Rutherford (Carterton) was in attendance as page boy. He was dressed in a suit of blue magnolia satin. The duties of best man were carried out by Leading Aircraftman C. Rountree, of Rongotai, and Mr H. Pratt, Wellington, was groomsman. Messrs H. J. Rayner and G. H. Bell were ushers at the church. During the signing of the register the choir sang “The Voice that Breathed O'er Eden” and other hymns. As the bridal party left the church, John Rayner presented the bride with a miniature silver horseshoe. At the reception, held at the Parish | Hall, over 200 guests from all parts of New Zealand were entertained. Mrs Bell, assisted by Mrs Askew, receivcG the guests. Mrs Bel! wore a black ensemble, with touches of white, and carried a bouquet of red tulips, etc. Mrs Askew was attired in a mist grey ensemble relieved with lavender, and iccessories to match, and carried a bouquet of anenom.es and hyacinths. The breakfast tables were tastefully decorated, with spring flowers. The three-tiered wedding cake occupied pride of place. Many congratulatory telegrams were received from all parts of the Dominion, in addition to cablegrams from Egypt and England. When Mr and Mrs D. H. R. Askew left on a motor tour of the North, the bride wore a tide blue costume with navy accessories and skunk fur necklace (the gift of the bridegroom). Their future home will be in Greymouth. Following the reception a most enjoyable dance was held, the music for which was supplied by Messrs J. Barnes and W. Ashworth. The duties of M’s.C. were carried out by Leading Aircraftman Rountree and Mr H. Pratt. The singing of Auld Lang Syne and the National Anthem brought the function to a close.
