CHRISTMAS GIFTS

FOR SOLDIERS OVERSEAS PACKED BY IHURAUA LADIES. PRESENTATION TO MISS E. DAGG. (“Times-Age” Special.) A meeting of Ihuraua ladies under the auspices of the Mauriceville-Ihu-raua branch of the Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, was held at the residence of Mrs C. R. Judd, when Mrs E. H. Dagg presided over a record attendance. The greater part of the afternoon was spent in packing Christmas gifts for soldiers overseas. Twelve Christmas cakes and twelve assorted parcels were packed and have since been posted. More wool was distributed among members and many finished knitted garments were handed in. Competitions, held brought in £1 2s Cd. A trophy donated by Mrs Theed for a lucky number was won by Miss E. Dagg. A prize donated by Mrs D. Brunton for a putting competition was won by Miss D. Brunton. A “found on a penny” competition, the prize for which was given by Mrs Judd, was won by Miss M. Heckler. During the afternoon, Mrs C. M. Meredith presented Miss E. Dagg with a small gift from the ladies in token of her untiring efforts as secretary. Afternoon tea and a vote of thanks to the hostess brought a very enjoyable meeting to a close. Mr S. Anderson has given a ham for competition at the next monthly meeting.
