WEDDING
DEANE—JONES. The marriage took place recently at the Knox Church, Masterton, of Edna Rose, fourth daughter of Mr and Mrs J. R. Jones, Dixon Street, Masterton. and Robert George, eldest son of Mr G. R. Deanb. Kuripuni. The Rev. John Davie officiated, and Mr C. W. Kerry presided at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a rich cream satin frock, fashioned on graceful lines. The sleeves were puffed at the shoulders and fitting to the waist, forming a peak over the hand, with tiny selfcovered buttons trimming the back of the bodice from neck to waist. The skirt fell in folds to form, an oval train and her parchment tulle veil, which was kindly lent by a friend, was held in place with a halo of orange blossom, with the veil falling over the face. She carried a shower bouquet composed of white camellias, freesias and maiden-hair fern. The bridesmaids were Misses Joyce Jones (chief), sister of the bride, and Lillian Baxter, . cousin of the bride, who wore frocks of pony skin taffeta, in green and pink shades respectively. The dresses were cut on fashionable lines, with rucked bodices and sleeves, forming heart-shaped neck-lines with tiny self-covered buttons down the back of the bodice. The full skirts fitted into the waist with small pin tucks and gave a graceful effect. The bridesmaids carried bouquets of blossoms, hyacinth, daphne and maidenhair fern.
Mr Harry Hall (Masterton) carried out the duties of best man, and the groomsman was lan Flaws (Masterton).
On leaving the church the bride was presented with a horse-shoe, tied with white satin ribbon, by Kevin Rutherford, nephew of the bride. A reception was afterwards held at the Orange Hall, where the usual toasts were honoured. Mrs Jones, the bride’s mother, received the guests wearing a navy costume with accessories to match, and carried a posy of violets and .maiden-hair fern. Mrs Cameron, aunt of the bridegroom, was attired in a lace frock with a fur coat, and carried a posy of violets and maiden-hair fern.
After the reception the guests were entertained at a dance until midnight, when the gathering was brought to a close with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne" and “God Save The King.”
Mr and Mrs Deane left later by car. the bride travelling in a smart seagreen costume and hat with navy accessories to match. Their future home will be in Masterton.
