SALE AT ADDINGTON KEEN COMPETITION. IMPROVEMENT IN PRICES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. September 24. Smaller entries and the generally improved markets marked today s Addington sale. Store sheep and dry sheep met with an improved sale, and open woolled ewe hoggets realised up to 35s 6d, others to 28s 6d. Wether hoggets made from 19s up, shorn adult wethers made to 21s, and in the wool to 26s 6d. Ewes and lambs all counted ranged from 14s to 16s Id for best, inferior down to 10s. In the fat sheep section 3250 head were penned. , The small entry met keen competition, with ewes 2s dearer and wethers fully firm. Wethers made 35s to 40s, tops to 455, medium to good 29s to 345, good ewes 27s to 31s, tops to 355, medium to good 23s to 265. In the fat cattle section there was a, keen sale from the outset, a number of drafts averaging from £lB to £2O. Prime steers sold from £lB to £23, show sorts to £27 2s 6d, medium weights prime £l5 to £l7, best heifers £l2 to £l4, tops to £l6 12s 6d, prime medium £9 10s to . £ll. Good bee made from 46s to 48s 6d a 1001 b., and a few top pens to just on 50s a 1001 b. Medium quality and heavy made 41s to 445, and inferior down to 325. In the fat pig section the porker entry was small and there was an improvement in prices. Values were f™™ 47s 6d to £3 9s 6d, average 7,?d to 9 2 d a lb. Baconers were dearer for all classes except heavyweights by 3s to 4s a lb. Prices were £3 12s 6d to £5 10s 6d, average a lb. 6ld to B}d. MASTERTON SALE LARGER YARDING YESTERDAY. STORE SHEEP EASIER IN PRICE. The Associated Auctioneers’ report] a much larger yarding of sheep than previous markets this season and also a fair yarding of cattle at their Masterton sale yesterday. The majority of the sheep were yarded in the fat pens but a good line of 4tli wethers, in the wool on account of “Fernglen” were sold at 26s 7d. Generally, fat sheep remained on a par, and store sheep were perhaps a little easier. Fat bullocks sold particularly well but fat P.A. cows were slightly below previous sales. Prices realised were as follow: — Sheep.—Fats: Woolly wether hoggets 21s 6d; shorn ewes 12s to 13s 2d; woolly ewes 18s to 19s; S.D. ewes 19s to 21s, maiden 245; shorn m.b.f. ewes and wethers 22s 7d and 27s 8d; 6th ewes 16s 3d; 4th ewes 18s, (maiden) 245; b.f. hoggets 21s to 265; woolly wethers 30s to 31s 6d. (shorn) 21s 9d to 235.
