THOUSANDTH STATE RESTAURANT. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, September 22. The thousandth “British restaurant” was opened today by Lord Woolton, Minister of Food, who said that although the enemy had done his best for two years, Britain was still in the war, and in spite of some disasters she was better equipped than before. The restaurant seats 250 people, and provides two-course meals —meat, two vegetables, sweet, and a cup of tea—at prices ranging from 10s to Is.
