ESPERANTO

MASTERTON CLUB MEETING. The weekly meeting of the Masterton Esperanto Club was held last evening at 8 Short Street. Mi- W. J. Beres-, ford presided over a good attendance of members. During the transaction of formal business it was decided to hold the annual general meeting of the club next Tuesday. . Study comprised repetition reading and the translation of material published in “La Interna Ideo,” the all-Es-peranto official organ of New Zealand Esperantists. . Mr E. J. Esler presented the poem “Sciuro kaj Papago,” written originally in Esperanto over fifty years ago and of which the syntax remains unchanged. This was followed by conversational practice in the international language and a number of impromptu talks in which each member participated. The final item was contributed by the secretary, Mr W. H. King, who concluded his series of addresses on the subject “From the Life of a Soldier.” Dealing with the ordinary camp routine observed on a Sunday, the address proved to be particularly interesting and informative.
