Mrs D. B. Cameron, Hinakura, is visiting Napier. Mrs Wilton, Wellington, is staying with Mrs Dodds, Pownall Street, Masterton. Mrs Von Dadelszen, Hawke’s Bay, is staying with her sister, Mrs C. Kebbel, Alfredton. Mrs S. J. Gill. Cole Street, Masterton, is visiting her daughter, Mrs B. Blundell, New Plymouth. Her many friends in Masterton will regret to learn that Mrs J. M. Coradine is indisposed and has entered the Burnside Private Hospital. Mrs C. Bennett, formerly of Essex Street, Masterton, who left some years ago to reside in Norfolk Island, and who has returned to New Zealand, is at present the guest of Mrs W. G. Lamb, Herbert Street, Masterton. ■ The death occurred in Marton on Monday of Mrs Katherine Anne Newman, wife of Mr Edward Newman, C.M.G., who was the originator of the New Zealand Sheepowners’ Acknowledgment of Debt to British Seamen Fund and a member of Parliament for 14 years l till his retirement in 1922. The death occurred recently at the residence of her daughter, Mrs Oakley, Hastings, of Mrs Sarah Sievers. Mrs Sievers was born in Karori 80 years ago. She was married to Mr George Sievers in 1883, later coming to the Wairarapa, where they farmed for 30 years. From there they retired to Levin, and after the death of her husband there some five years ago Mrs Sievers lived in Hastings with her daughter. Though she took little part in public life, Mrs Sievers was well known for her many deeds of kindness. She leaves a family of three sons and three daughters. They are: Messrs G. D. Sievers, Martinborough; S. J. Sievers, Wanganui; T. Sievers, Palmerston North; Mrs J. Solar, Taumarunui; Mrs J. F. Oakley, Hastings; and Miss E. Sievers, Hastings. Two sons predeceased her, Gerald being killed on Gallipoli during 1915, and William, who died from the effect of wounds received in the Great War.
