Royevrus and Trig Station made all the running from Flying Acre and Gay Mimic, who were together with Beau Leon. Once they straightened up Gay Mimic and Flying Acre challenged, Gay Mimi'? winning by a head from Flying Acre who beat Trig Station by two lengths. Beau Leon, finishing strongly, was almost in line fourth, followed by Royevrus, Full Hand and Philemup. The run of the race favoured Gay Mimic and Flying Acre, whereas Trig Station was probably not at his best out in front.

An Attractive Finish.

Splendidly ridden by W. J. Broughton, who jumped him out in front and then steadied him in behind, Noble Fox finished attractively on the rails to win the Victory Handicap at the Poverty Bay meeting yesterday. Noble Fox was smartest to begin, from Vitement, and when the field had settled down Te Haka and Kaspian were in front from Erlick. The field was bunched at the turn, Kaspian and Erlick leading into the straight from Te Haka and Noble Fox, with Volifox making a run on the outside. Inside the distance Volifox was in front, but Noble Fox finished well to beat her by threequarters of a length. Lornacre battled on to be three-quarters of a length away third.
