SOCIALISM & DEMOCRACY
(To 1 the Editor.) Sir,—ln your paper of September 22, there appeared a short letter signed Doris Robertson, drawing reference to Dr. Parr’s letter of the 17th inst. In Dr. Parr’s letter of that date, there appeared the phrases, “Russia is a Socialistic country.” “New Zealand is a Socialistic country.” Those, or the latter phrase, are not Dr. Parr’s sentiments, and it would be interesting to note from whom such an erroneous statement originated, for New Zealand is not a Socialistic country, never has been, and never will be. The writer is a New Zealander, born and bred, and a descendant of solid British blood, the foundation of true democracy. England is a democratic country, Australia is a democratic country, New Zealand is a democratic country, and New Zealanders will never surrender their country, their freedom, or their individuality, to Socialists, who seekmonopoly and control, under the guise of Labour. —Yours,' etc., NEW ZEALANDER AND DEMOCRAT. Masterton, September 23.
