NAZI CLAIMS
DESTRUCTION OF RUSSIAN FORCES. (Received This Day, 12.25 p.m.) LONDON. September 22. A German communique states that the German forces eastwards of Kiev are continuing the destruction of enemy troops, which are dispersed into several groups and concentrated in a very small area. Heavy casualties, the communique states, “were inflicted during a desperate attempt to break out of the encirclement.” A military spokesman in Berlin said thirty Russian divisions, comprising 450,000 men, had already been annihilated eastwards of Kiev.
