The complete figures of the losses are: Over Britain: Germany 3, Britain 0.. Over Europe: Germany 54, Britain 46. In the Middle East: Axis 14, Britain 7.

In the defence of Britain more than 1000 enemy aircraft have been destroyed in the first eight months of this year. The British losses were some 300 planes. These figures were given in a speech at Newcastle today by Air Vice Marshal J. L. Andrews, who said that of this 1000 planes British day fighters had destroyed 636 machines, mostly Messerschmitts.

In recent months enemy supply ships and tankers totalling 240,000 -tons had been sunk or seriously damaged by bombs or torpedoes.
