WOMEN IN INDUSTRY

INCREASING PART TO PLAY. f OTTAWA, September 12. I The Hon. C. D. Howe, Minister of j Munitions and Supply, in a radio broadcast estimated that only about 60 per cent of the workers who ultimately will be required are at present employed in war industries. “Our factories,” Mr Howe added, “are depending more and more on women workers not previously employed in industry. These women are displaying surprising aptitude for many types of munitions work and will be an important factor in our future expansion. Ultimately, we must draw heavily on manpower of unessential peace industries and the latter must be curtailed accordingly.”
