OBITUARY
MR JOHN McLEOD. The death occurred on Saturday" of Mi’ John McLeod, of * "Whakapuni," Martinborough, in his 73rd year. The late Mr McLeod, who was a Justice of the Peace, was a well-known Wairarapa farmer and was held .in high respect throughout the district. He was a brother of the alte Hon A. D. McLeod. The late Mr McLeod was born at “Whakapuni.” the son of tire late Mr and Mrs William McLeod, original settlers of that property. He had lived there all his life and took a great interest, in matters relating to farming. For some years he was a member of the Featherston County Council and prior to that, of the Martinborough Road Board. He was a keen supporter of all kinds of sport. Fox* the greater part of his life he was a member of the Wairarapa and East Coast P. & A. Society, Mi- McLeod had been in failing health fox* the past two oi' three years. He is survived by his wife and a family of two sons. Messrs William (Pongaroa) and J. A. McLeod (“Whakapuni”) and four daughters, Mesdames G. Hardy and G. Robinson, and the Misses Christina and Jean McLeod (all of Martinborough), besides two grandchildren. foui’ brothers and one sister. The funeral took place this afternoon.
