When asked at his Press conference at Hyde Park yesterday about the London “Daily Express" story that an American warship had sunk an Axis raidei’ in the Pacific. President Roosevelt declined to comment one way or another.
He said he had heard nothing of the Japanese question or of the Far East situation in the last 24 hours, though he was in constant touch with the Secretary of State, Mi- Hull. The President is spending the weekend at Hyde Park to attend to the settlement of his mother’s estate.
