“ONCE ABOARD THE LUGGER”

AT OPERA HOUSE TONIGHT. The girls’ choir of the Inter House Association will stage in the Opera House, Masterton, tonight, and Monday, September 22, an outstanding comedy “Once Aboard the Lugger,” which gives the principals plenty of scope to display their ability. The comedy will be produced by Mrs E. J. Rich, who has in the past so successfully carried out similar work in Masterton. She has available a clever cast and these girls should be able io provide the audience with something above the average in the way of performance. Half the proceeds will be handed to Sister Matthews, who was seriously injured during an attack by a German raider on a British ship which she was on board. With her right hand amputated. her left hand mutilated, and with severe facial injuries, Sister Matthews has been lying in a Sydney hospital for many months. She is the saddest casualty of the sunken Rangitane on which she was returning to England for military service after helping' convoy a group of British children to Australia. She is truly a New Zealand nurse, having gained her general training at Wellington Hospital, her Blanket certificate in Dunedin, and her midwifery at Napier. The cast is as follows: Nancy McWhinnie (Captain Aloysius Murgatroyd); . Audrey Bilderbeck (Bill, a Pirate); Mona Fulton (Charles, a Pirate); Aileen Daly (Elizabeth); Barbara Hair- (Letitia); Flo Bellis (Sir Percy Oddsbodkins); Thelma Jone; (Mine Host). The ballets have been arranged by Miss Enid Thomson and the musical part will be under the direction of Mrs Miller Hope.
