Mr D. Waldie, of Waitotara, was a visitor to Masterton yesterday.

Miss E. J. Burton, who has retired from the staff of Messrs C. E. Daniell, Ltd., Masterton, was farewelled by her fellow workers last night. She was the recipient of a handbag. The presentation was made by Mr A. Owen Jones. Miss Burton had been on the staff for about 10 years. Miss M. Scanlon, of the Masterton Labour Department’s office, has been transferred to the head office, Wellington. At a farewell gathering, the district inspector, Mr N. Pelvin, spoke of the esteem in which Miss Scanlon was held by the Department and wished her every success in her new duties. Messrs W. G. Milne and R. C. Jordan endorsed Mr Pelvin’s remarks.
