REGENT THEATRE
“I WANTED WINGS.” Combining a story of adventure and romance with the exciting and fascinating chronicle of how America is training its young men for defense in the air, “I Wanted Wings,” Paramount’s new aviation spectacle, will be shown tonight at the Regent Theatre. The fact that the Army Air Corps gave its co-operation to the film’s producers indicates a picture of the first rank. Even the indelible motion picture, “Wings,” one of the greatest sky films, did not have such auspicious help. All of this, of course, leads patrons to take for granted that there will be breathlessly thrilling sky sequences—and that they will all be authentic and accurate, which is always a tremendous benefit in a picture of this sort. For instance, “I Wanted Wings” presents the details of what might happen if a city such as Los Angeles were to be raided from the air and blacked out in defence. The picture stars such brilliant players as Ray Milland. William Holden, Wayne Morris, and Brian Donlevy. There is an excellent series of supporting items.
