GIANT LINERS
OWNERS REPAYING LOANS TO BRITISH GOVERNMENT. SUM OF NEARLY £8,000,000. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.55 a.rh.) LONDON, September 18. The Cunard and White Star Line, owners of the liners Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary, are paying off, at a single stroke, the entire loans from the Treasury, involving the £7,950,000 advanced to finance the building of the giant vessels. The repayment money ccmes from various reserves, and. from cash received from the Government for vessels lost by enemy action.
