, SALE AT ADDINGTON VALUES WELL MAINTAINED. EWES DEARER IN PRICE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, September 17. At the Addington market values were well maintained today in most sections. The store sheep market was the most animated for some time. Open woolled ewe hoggets sold in one instance at 325, and other pens of finer wools at 26s 6d and Good twotooth half-bred ewes in lamb sold at up to 32s 7d, and other ewes at 30s 3d. Ewes and lambs made up to 18s 7d all counted. Spring lambs sold at from Is 2d to Is 3d a lb., and prices ranged from 30s to 41s. In the fat cattle section heavy prime steers made from £2l to £24, prime heavy £l7 10s to £l9 10s. prime medium weight £l4 10s to £l7, and inferior down to £lO 10s. Outstanding heifers made from £l5 to £lB 12s 6d, good £l2 to £l4 10s. Best beef made from 43s to '46s a 1001 b., good from 41s to 435, and rough down to 30s. In the fat sheep section wethers were in heavy supply and held last week’s values, but ewes were a little dearer. Good wethers made from 33s to 365, ordinary and medium weights 27s to 325, good ewes 24s to 28s, best to 32s 9d, prime medium weights 23s to 26s 6d.
There was a poor selection of porkers, but values were maintained. Prices ranged from £2 4s 6d to £3 7s 6d, average per lb., 7,?d to 9}d. Baeoners met with a keen sale. Prices ranged from £3 7s 6d to £5 10s 6d, average per lb., 6}d to 7.? d.
MASTERTON SALE IMPROVED CLASS OF STOCK. RISE IN PRICES RECORDED. The Associated Auctioneers' report that there was an improved class of stock at their weekly Masterton sale yesterday, and consequently a favourable rise in prices on previous markets. There was a good entry of fat sheep and shorn fat ewes were sold at up to 14s 6d, shorn S.D. ewes to 25s sd, and prime woolly wether hoggets at 31s. | Fat P.A. cows, for which there was also a good entry, made up to £lO 14s and good quality Hereford cows reached £9 6s. After the completion of the cattle sale an entry of South Island and local working horses was offered. Prices are: — Sheep: Fat shorn S.D. ewes 25s sd, fat S.D. ewes 20s to 21s 2d, fat shorn ewes 14s, 14s 3d to 14s 6d, fat ewes 17s 3d, 19s, 19s 3d to 20s 3d, fat woolly maiden ewes 20s to 24s 9d, fat shorn wethers 225, fat shorn S.D. wethers 24s 6d, fat woolly wethers 295, fat shorn wether hoggets (light) 17s, fat b.f. hoggets 255. prime w. wether hoggets, 31s. Stores: B.F. hoggets 18s 6d, w.w. hoggets 20s 3d, ewes with b.f. lambs at foot 14s, 13s to Ils 6d, all counted. Cattle: Fat P.A. cows (heavy) £lO 14s, others £8 to £9 10s, fat Hereford cows (heavy) £9 6s, others £8 15s, fat P.A. heifers £lO, fat Hereford heifers £8 10s, fat maiden P.A. heifers £8 12s 6d, fat cow ex-dairy £4 10s. Pigs: V/eaners 27s 6d, 23s 6d to 235, small 20s to 18s. Horses: On account M. Moore, Canterbury, working horses £l3 10s to £l5 10s, on account J. W. Colquhoun £2l, on account W. Clarke £25.
