HEROIC LENINGRAD

INSPIRING MESSAGE TO LONDON. LONDON. September 16. Beleaguered Leningrad has broadcast an inspiring message to the City of London. The message said: “Listen, City of London! Listen, people of London! We thank you with all our hearts for your warm greetings. We admire your airmen, soldiers and sailors fighting so bravely against our common enemy. From east and west we shall avenge the innocent blood of the people of London. Coventry, Plymouth, Liverpool, Warsaw. Moscow. Leningrad and Kiev." The message added that the united efforts of the British and Soviet peoples would rout and destroy the bloody Hitler tyranny and deliver the nations of Europe. “Your voice and friendship coming from the battlefield inspire us to new resistance,” the message concluded.
