BATTLESHIP MENACED
“A few months ago the Robin Moor was sunk by a Nazi submarine under circumstances violating long-establish-ed international law and every principle of humanity. No apology, no allegation of a mistake, no offer of reparations has come from the Nazi Government.
“In July an American battleship in North American waters was followed by a submarine, which for a long time sought to manoeuvre itself into a position of attack. No British or American submarines were within hundreds of miles of this spot at the time, so the nationality of the submarine is clear. “The American-owned ship Sessa, operating under the flag of our sister republic Panama, was first torpedoed without warning and then shelled while carrying civilian supplies to Iceland. Three survivors were picked up, and it is feared that the other members of the crew were drowned. In view of the established presence of German submarines in this vicinity, there can be no reasonable doubt as to the identity of the attacker. “Another United States merchant ship, the Steel Seafarer, was sunk by a German aircraft in the Red Sea.
