When enjoying short leave in London, the New Zealand Victoria Cross winner, Sergeant Pilot J. A. Ward tried to repair a petrol lighter which exploded and rather badly burned both his hands. He returned to his station yesterday wearing more bandages than at any other time since he joined the Royal Air Force.
