GOVERNOR=GENERAL

TAKING UP RESIDENCE IN CHRISTCHURCH. PROBABLY NEXT MONTH. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) I CHRISTCHURCH, September 11. | The Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall, with Lady Newall and their children, will probably take up their residence in Christchurch next month, to remain here till the end of December. A swimming pool and beautifully laid out gardens, heavily wooded in parts, distinguish the property, which is bordered by the Waimairi Stream. It will be the first occasion on which the Governor-General’s official residence has been in the city or in the South Island.
